Adkins Compact - Rear film sensor not working

Modified on Tue, 26 Aug at 2:21 PM

The rear film sensor controls which suction roller (front or back) has vacuum, which in turn aids with feeding the film through the machine to the take-up. If the rear vacuum roller does not turn on, there may be an issue with your rear film sensor. The steps below will help to identify a faulty rear film sensor.

1. The rear film sensor is not detecting media.

Clean the optical sensor

Using a dry cloth, gently wipe the face of the front film sensor to remove any dirt or powder that may be affecting the functionality of the sensor.

Adjust the distance screw

Remove the film sensor by unscrewing the sensor from the rear of the machine. On the rear of the sensor, you will find the distance adjustment screw. To change the distance that the sensor will detect media, place an object the desired distance away from the sensor and adjust the screw until the red light goes dim.

2. Check the rear film sensor is connected.

Find the yellow rear sensor on the rear of the machine. When an object is passed across the front of the film sensor, the LED should light up bright red when something is present and dull red when nothing is obstructing it.
